Welcome The Unwelcome is a community-led project focused on documenting and preserving contemporary lived experiences of Rainbow Mob Cape York. The work involves photographer Marijke creating portraiture and collecting personal narratives that reflect culture, identity, and community life as shared by Cape York First Nations LGBTQIA+ Sistergirl Brotherboy peoples. These stories and images are being collated into a photography book that centres Indigenous LGBTQIA+ voices within their own cultural and geographic contexts. All proceeds generated from the publication are returned directly to the individuals who participate, supporting financial wellbeing, autonomy, and self-determination for Cape York Rainbow mob.
