Dr. Mayur Patel is a Texas native with a strong academic and clinical background in psychiatry. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Arts with Highest Honors in Biology from The University of Texas at Austin. He then continued his medical education at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, also known as McGovern Medical School, where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree. His education and training provided a strong foundation for his work in modern psychiatric care and interventional mental health treatment.
Dr. Patel completed his psychiatry residency at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in New York. During his residency, he played an active role in developing and expanding the Spravato® (esketamine) treatment program. This work focused on improving access to advanced treatment options for patients with treatment-resistant depression who may not have experienced sufficient improvement with traditional approaches. His involvement in this program helped strengthen his experience with evidence-based psychiatric treatments and advanced depression care.
He also completed certification in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, commonly known as TMS, through the Academy of Brain Stimulation. TMS is an advanced, non-invasive treatment option used in certain cases of depression and other psychiatric conditions when clinically appropriate. His additional training in TMS supports his focus on interventional psychiatry and modern treatment options.
