Bharat Ratna is India’s highest civilian award. Established in 1954 by the Government of India, the Bharat Ratna Award is presented in recognition of exceptional service or performance of the highest order in any field of human endeavour.
This Bharat Ratna Award was last awarded to Pranab Mukherjee in 2019 and the award was not awarded to anyone from 2020 to 2023. It was awarded to two individuals in 2015, 2014, 2001, 1998, 1990, 1963 and 1961. It was awarded to three individuals in the years 2019, 1997, 1992, 1991, 1955 and 1954.
The Prime Minister will make recommendations for the Bharat Ratna award to the President. The Bharat Ratna award does not carry any monetary grant. A certificate signed by the President and a medal will be awarded.
Chlatri Charan Singh, a great farmer leader, served as the country’s sixth Prime Minister. PV Narasimha Rao served as the 10th Prime Minister of the country. Narasimha Rao, who was the Prime Minister from June 21, 1991 to May 16, 1996, is credited with turning the Indian economy on the path of globalization. He carried out major economic reforms in India.
